 Welcome to Lotus Puddle Chinese Shar Pei. Since the 1980's I have loved, as well as owned Shar Pei's. I Currently have 2 beautiful Pei's:Emma, our Chocolate Dilute female  and Mishu, our Isabella Dilute male.

   There are many resources to familiarize oneself to the Chinese Shar Pei breed. One is the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America (www.cspca.com) another is Veterinarian ...Dr. Jeff Vidt ( a vet who specializes in C.Shar Pei ).

   Some health guidelines: Choose a veterinarian who is knowledgeable about Shar Pei. Ask your breeder about local vets, contact memebers of local Shar Pei club. Puppies , as well as adults need and deserve routine vaccinations, rabies shots and regular checkups to ensure their health and well being.

  Do feed your companion a high quality kibble. It is worth it it the long run...your Pei will reap the benefits and their health will be much better!! The CSPCA  has guidelines for Pei diet , as well as reputable web-site searches.

 Socialization of your puppy is critical in helping your Shar Pei (or any breed) be a well adjusted puppy/adult. Take them on regular walks, introduce them to collar and leash while young. Introduce them to all kinds of people,social situations and animals. Shar Pei are very intelligent and learn quickly. Obedience training is wonderful for all puppies. 

 Crate training is recommended also, when introduced at an early age ...the crate can be a place of comfort/security and a space of their own. Always use it as a place to go that is positive and not a place for misbehavior or "time out" ..as they may associate the crate with being a negative place.
